How it all started...
The History of Bayou George Christian Church
From a Prayer Meeting to a Church Family
Bayou George Christian Church began not with a building, but with a burden—and a prayer. Prior to 1976, several families in the Bayou George area felt a growing desire for a local congregation rooted in New Testament Christianity. That desire turned into action on the evening of Wednesday, May 5, 1976, when four members gathered at a lake house and laid the vision before the Lord in prayer. What happened next would shape the future of countless lives in this community.
On Sunday, June 27, 1976, the very first worship service was held—right there in that lake house—with just eight people in attendance.
Permanent property was secured on June 14, 1977, and construction of the first building began in March 1978. The first service in that space was held on July 2, 1978, with C.O. Young delivering the message.
The season that marked a turning point. On Sunday, October 3, 1982, renewed hope and fresh leadership under minister All B. Jarman created vigor. The congregation continued to grow, and on January 27, 1985, ground was broken for a new sanctuary.
Today, Bayou George Christian Church stands as a testimony to what God can do with a small group of praying people, willing hearts, and a vision for something greater. We are more than a building—we are a family of believers who love God, love people, and strive to reach our world for Christ.
From lakeside prayers to a thriving church home, the journey of BGCC is still being written—one life, one family, and one step of faith at a time.

Expanding the vision...
Bayou George Christian Church is a multi-generational, Bible-teaching church that exists to help people know Jesus and make Him known. Nestled in a rural yet growing community, we are a church that values authentic relationships, sound doctrine, joyful worship, and a servant’s heart. Our ministries span from young children to senior adults, and our commitment to discipleship is reflected in our small groups, Bible studies, and hands-on outreach to our neighbors. Many of our members have walked through deep valleys and found hope, which fuels our passion for walking alongside others with compassion and grace. Whether through worship services, grief support, youth outreach, or simply sharing a meal, our goal is to reflect the love of Christ in all we do. At BGCC, we say, "We’re not perfect—but we’re in this together."
Come grow with us.
Come grow with us.
